• As creators of the world's most secure banknotes, we know exactly how to protect our customers' most important assets.

KBA-NotaSys' commitment to global trade quality guarantees reassurance.

Banknotes

Holding significance far beyond their use in monetary transactions, banknote production employs a variety of printing and application processes, each one contributing to the security of the final document.

The task of the banknote designer is to create an artistic fusion between aesthetics and security. Designs are formed in close cooperation with our clients and tailored specifically to the needs of our industry.

Banknotes must resist the most advanced methods of corruption employed by modern counterfeiters. To stay ahead of fraudulent behaviour, new overt and covert security features must be applied.

The efficient, productive and secure creation of banknotes is undertaken harnessing our know-how and KBA-NotaSys’ Smart Solutions: a specific combination of Modular Systems and Expert Services designed to offer customers even more value.

Our competency in this domain has been acquired through the development of more than 500 issued banknote designs produced for a global network of central banks and issuing authorities.

Despite our industry’s best intentions, challenges and threats appear to evolve at almost the same rate as innovation in high security printing technology. To demonstrate the high performance of our equipment, and our extensive know-how in banknote design, we have produced many specimen banknotes over the years.

Each one demonstrates a significant step forward in technology and competence.

Tax Labels

The i-con Intaglio press was developed to print tax labels, using a web system. The i-con is particularly adept at meeting the needs of high security printers thanks to its rapid make-ready time and high degree of flexibility. It is compatible with a wide range of substrates ranging from thin papers to complex adhesive labels. For i-con customers, a special and dedicated fast delivery service has been put in place.

Sound of Intaglio® Services

The unique feel of the Intaglio print has been one of the foundations of banknote security and greatly facilitates public recognition. However, its authentication through machine detection was previously only possible through the addition of special additives, or taggants.

Today, the Sound of Intaglio® technology allows detection of genuine Intaglio print through the analysis of 2D images using the state of the art wavelet transform. It was developed as a result of the Sound of Intaglio® research program at KBA-NotaSys and the Institute for Industrial Information Technology (inIT) of the Ostwestfalen-Lippe (OWL) University of Applied Sciences. The Document Analysis and Classification System (DACS) is a stand-alone laboratory standard device for analysis, description and classification of banknote counterfeits.

Contact us to discuss our Sound of Intaglio® services for authenticating security documents and for services relating to software for authenicating security documents.
